Ok i need some answers...G80 rebuild?

I currently have an open carrier in my truck. It needs a locker or lsd of some kind. I dont really have the cash to drop on a trutrac right now. sooo......a friend has a G80 that "needs clutches". I can buy it for $50 or so. I have searched for info but keep hitting brick walls on where i can get parts.....besides the stealership.

Questions

Can I get the clutches for this locker?

How much are we talking about?

And finally is the cost of rebuilding this G80 gonna be high enough that I should just get a real diff and be done?

Not worth the time, money or the effort, they've earned the nickname Grenade80 honestly.

They cost a lot of money to rebuild correctly. I would rather weld up an open than install a g80.

haha...I actually did it like that but broke it all loose at the track! now its open again. haha I need to do it right. I do drive this truck.

I have welded up 2 of them with no problems. Just make sure your not welding just the spiders. Weld the spiders then pull axels, rotate spiders ONLY 180*, re-insert axles and weld the spiders again. Then weld all 4 of them across the top to the carrier. If the welds came loose Id be afraid of the metal damaging the R&P.
