Well I lost the information that was up before because I did not print it. The question is what is a good cam for a 99 5.3L ext cab truck? I need it to be emission friendly :puke: so if Atlanta grows so they can pass the fed's testing I will have to comply at sometime. I am planning on :nx: . Will be order next week. So I can be a sheep in wolf clothing. Yank 3600 stall converter order and ASM headers. Well thanks for the help? I had some good info. but I don't remember it. Also were can I find the cam you are talking about? I have been looking at Thunderracing.com at them. I don't know how to read spec. printed. :thumb:

http://www.compcams.com/catalog/088_089.html Goto the botom of this page to see the compcams LS! gen 111 cams. I would think the first or second cam on this list would be what you are looking for. Craane also makes a similar cam, but it does cost more. email me if you want some prices on these cams, I can normally beat anyones price. :thumb:

or, use our cam specs area.. :taunt: Cam Specs
You will need to log into the area using the info under the LS1 Edit forum. That is so ppl will HAVE to register to look, giving us a real count of the traffic on here.
Cam specs for Lunati, Comp, Crane and TR are listed. I need to go look for more to fill it all out. :)

I wrote you a great response on the last board before it died. I recall you were asking about how to read cam specs. Since you are going with headera, I would recomend the TR 220 with the 114 LSA. I do not recall lift specs on that cam. Are you planning on springs and pushrods? If not comp offers custom grinds.
I selected a comp cam. My specs are 216/216 .577/.577 114 LSA. I also got 918 springs and hardened pushrods to hold it together. I chose the short duration to improve the lower/midrange powerpand. I will still get more power in the upper band but not as much as the bigger cams would offer. The springs and rods will push my redline up as well.
Overall I felt this was my best compromise. Given my mod plans. This will work nicely with my SS3600. If I went with a bigger cam I would end up trading off low end power and drivability.

The specs you said you didnt know..
220/220 .553/.553 114LSA
A very balanced cam with excellent power across the RPM range. Computer tuning required with automatic. 1.8 rockers are not recommended.
Power Band: 1500-6500 RPM's
Part #: 99-220/220-114
Straight from our reference section.

I was not planning on changing out the rockers or lifters at this time. Are 1.8 rockers stock type. I was just looking to get about 30 more hp out of the motor and to help the nitrous later. I really don't want to do a head and cam at this time but if I need to I might. Did not plan on that anddon't want the exp. Thanks for the help.

If you get the TR220 I would get some 918 springs and hardened push rods. Otherwise do not extend the rev limit. That is a lot of lift for the stock springs. Here are the stock cam specs so you can get an idea of the baseline you are working from.
1998-2000: 202/210 .492/.492 116 LSA
2001-2002: 198/197 .478/.478 115 LSA
