Hey Guys just got off the phone with Vig and they are recommending a:
10.5" multi-disc (3) converter. I want another 3200 stall converter for the 80E just like I have in th e60E.
They said they recommed the 10.5 over the 9.5" because the 9.5" is a bit looser. Plus, they recommend the 10.5" for all truck applications.
For turbo/NOS/charger applications, they recommend the 3 disc clutch setup.
My truck is a lot lighter than the NBS trucks, I build it like a camaro, since it weighs closer to that.
Should I get the 9.5" converter with a single clutch setup or the larger one?
just wanted some opinions, thanks for any input,
allen

Multidisk clutch setups are the cat's ass. Dragsters have been running them forever and they hold 7000?+ hp. I can only imagine it's going to help you, too, in your automatic. Next choice is to just shitcan the automatic and start banging gears manually. Get a Viper 6 speed and thrash that truck!! :jump:

hey allen i have the 9.5 verter with a triple disc in it. i love it. they might want you to trun the 10.5 due to the top end pull you are going to have. heck man ill get the truck back this weekend. if you are around you need to take it for a spin. ill come by and you can drive it and feel how it launches.

Remember your 3200 in the 60E was about 10.8" or something too. Hell I think I helped you pick it back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Nice thing about the multiclutch you can lock it under load to pick up big gains in ET and MPH.

Hey Allen I'll be getting my Yank Pro 3400 next week it was rebuilt with high SRT if you'r still up for the swap so you can test mine, altough its only on a 6.0.
But I have a :nx: NX Kit that I dont know if it can be used. If you wanna try it. :burnout: When are you doing your swap?
I've ready by next week.

I guess it's the 10.5" 3disc then. I'll get it ordered up tomorrow and hopefully have all the other parts in soon (thanks to speed eng) then I'll be doing some measuring and sending the drive shaft off to denny's.
Thanks for the input guys!!
I have the 80E already. I'm going to run it with the stock internals for now and then install a shift kit and servos. I've tune countless 80e's and I love the way they shift, even with the stock insides. It's like a sling shot effect, it shifts, then throws you forward, not a hard jolt like the 60e. Not that I didn't like that but...
I wonder how long 1st gear is going to stretch out, lol, with the 3.07's and a taller 80e first gear, that's gonna pull forever!
thanks,
allen

shit yea..that things gonna pull forever...you'll prolly only hit 2nd gear or just go into 3rd thru the 1/4.

60Es suck for shifts due to the apply of the band, it's just their nature. The AOD in my F150 shifts how the 80E does... each gear is a clutch pack except for the 3-4 which goes to a 2" band.
