Nelson & LQ4?
Going to order a tune from Nelsons soon. Its for an 01 2500hd 6.0L 4x4 with a rebuilt 4L80e. Just some quick questions? Anyone had a tune in this type of vehicle and what gains did you see? I dd it and tow as well so going with the 87-89tune. I would like to remove 100% tm. Cant see why Id need it? And when I stomp on it I want it all! LOL. Does Nelson normally increase the shift firmness for normall driving? The order form is kinda vaque. I would like firmer for normall throttle and harder for Wot and towing etc. Thanks for any tips/Hints or experiance guys. Looking for more Oomph and MPG. :)

The transmission can essentially have 2 tunes, normal and on tow/haul. So you can have your pie and eat it too. You'll see better gains with a 91 tune, and with my amateur ass tuning my truck I picked up enough fuel mileage to cover the cost of running 91. You'd be better off calling them and telling whoever answers the phone exactly what you want.

Great thanks. Live in Canada so I hope its not a long phone call LOL. Not sure about the 91tune. Its pricey and Ill be towing etc?

How do they tune the VE table with a mail order tune? Or do they leave the VE stock and just bump the timing up and adjust transmission settings?

He's done hundreds. Likely has a couple "master files" so to say for it. A stock LQ4 is a stock LQ4. I doubt everyone's mail order tune is different. So yes your VE will be adjusted
