in the hands of the right tuner, he'll know where to set your shift points..

well most of the stock truck engines power flat lines around 5700-5900 rpm..depending on of your truck is a 2wd single cab and not a big 4x4 you could prob set the shift points at 5900 and be safe. If it is a big 4x4 it keep the shift points a lil lower to stay in the torque range as it takes torque to move a big truck. the 03 4.8 made 270 hp @ 5200 and 285 tq @ 4000. So if it is a big truck try id say in the 5700 range. And the trans isnt so much an issue with high revving of the engine as are the stock pushrods which are designed to bend if the engine ever "over revs"....thats my two cents for what its worth, some people may have diff opinions. the best thing to do is try different shift points untill you find the one that feels the best

With the 4 speed I liked my shift points turned up a little. You want your shift points around 200 rpm past your peak power. This lets you hit the peak power while spinning the RPM up a little higher to aid in the rpm drop between shifts. I ran my 08 5.3 RCSB at 6100, 6200, 6200. Full bolt ons, tune, nitrous. No cam, no stall.
