Last time i Had a full rebuild dont and upgraded my cam to a 224/228 .581 .588 110lsa with a 3800 circle D stall. Only about 1700 miles on it since all that was done and it started making a loud knocking noise about 3000+ rpms under normal driving, and on the highway with cruise on about 60 the oil pressure would fluctuate from about 25-45 psi. And ideas? And Yes there was metal shavings in the oil. Hopefully the shop that built it will warranty it, they have it now, they said they would but Im sure they are looking for anything that may not be their fault. They are suppose to call me tomorrow and let me know.

Did you install it or them?

Also, was the filter dented any?

sounds like it spun or is spinning a few bearings..more than likely rods..
-
They did everything but put the motor in. I put the motor in and intake, and all that stuff. It ran great for 1700 miles. Filter as in oil filter? No.

oil pump not centerd on crank...... would cause all of above..... it is very important on these motors to center the pump.... hope it is something simple like this.... but the bad part is if there was metal in oil.... all bearings need be replaced.... cam included... and hope it didnt scar up crank.... Good luck.

The shop said it had a warranty if it was anything they did. And they put a new oil pump on it. I had a sealed long block and just dropped it in the truck. So it cant be anything I did.

yep, hope they stand behind it.....
