Little Rock
Hey guys. I am digging the site. Just brushing up on info before I tackle this swap and put money into and buy all the wrong.
I am an USAF C130 Loadmaster who is stationed in Little Rock. I have a 1995 ECSB Z71 with a 165K mile 350 TBI in it. It leaks and I am either thinking about rebuilding that or throwing an LQ4/9 in there.
Never pulled a motor so this will be the first. Have majority of the tools I believe I need except a cherry picker and an engine stand.
Thanks....
If anyone in little rock has done this please let me know
Dave

Awesome another Arkansas newb. I am in the middle of a swap in mine but it isnt a whole nother animal then what you are trying mine is a direct swap. You will need to talk to redheartbeat on ur swap. Dude has done it many times now. There are a good many memebers who have done it once or twice. But I believe Red has a write up on it. Hit the search botton for it
Oh yeah welcome from a few hours south of ya.

Yes, I did read reds thread on the build. Wish it had pictures. I do have a question. If I get the Nelson Wiring harness (or modified by them) do my stock gauges and cruise still work? What plugs into which ECU. Do i keep my 5.7TBI ecu and it is just modified then the LQ4/9 wiring harness is configured to plug into old ECU or is the 6.0 ECU used and older plugs are able to be plugged into the new ecu? I am pretty sure its the latter, but just checking. It seems pretty straitforward. Do I use my old AC compressor or new one? Hmmm.....so many questions...
I would really not like to splice wires, I am not an electrician. Would be cool if red could come up here or I went down there for a week and just tackled this.....

what up man... welcome to the site. im stationed on the base also. Im one of the Marine instructors that transfered here last year. Hit me up on a pm and ill give some info on some bad ass local shops that do alot of work for me. Sherwood performance is in sherwood off kiehl and KKperformance is in north little rock both shops hold a few of the track records. I have been lucky enough to have some work on all of my vehicles and kk just tuned my TBSS
