Transmission ?
Yesterday I was leaving for work. Put the truck in reverse and it made a pretty big clunk. Backed out of the driveway. Put it in drive and the same pretty big clunk. Pushed on the gas and it made a couple of really bad clunks when taking off. Once going it seems ok. Any thoughts what it could be.

Could be the slip yoke. First thing I would do is get under the truck and make sure it's nothing obvious that is about to break/fall off.

Checked the u-joints, they look good. Nothing looks like its about to break. Could it be the front or rear axles?

slip yoke where driveline goes into transmission hangs sometimes and does that..just pull driveline out of trans and grease it inside and out of shaft and put it back together. gm shoulda put a grease fitting there...

I've had problems with my drive shaft before and from a quick look under and inspection, it seemed ok. But when I took it down, parts fell apart. So if they are bad, might still be held together until taken apart. Just a thought.

I will recheck u-joints and check the slip yoke tomorrow

FOUND it. Spider gear in the rear end chewed itself up.
