alright............ im converting my s10 into a LS1 S10 and i need to know wut kinda suspension do i need to put on there. i heard somewhere that the springs form a 4.6L V6( Chevy X-treme) would hold the engine but i dont know if it would hold to well after im done with all of the performance upgrades and modifications. if anyone has any kinda info or peice of info that can help me fill this thread up.
thanx. :thumb:

the 4.3L v6 springs should work just fine unless the high performance parts you speak of a lined with lead. The goal of performance parts is usually to lighten things, not make them heavier. The LS1 block is about 110 lbs lighter than a cast iron V8. The V6 is just the same motor minus two cylinders so you should still be a bit lighter than the V6 cast iron engine.

how much alllignment will i lose if i do that
-
you shouldn't lose any alignment since the height will still be close to the same. BTW, was the extreme a 4 cylinder only truck?
-
im putting the LS1 in tha place of a 4cyl :nx:

You won't be doing anything different to the suspension than if you were to put a set of lowering springs in the front end of the truck. Get the V6 springs and you'll be at stock height. The 4 cylinder springs may be a little spongier.

iight i have already dropped my truck 3/4 so will that effect the engine change any

Sounds like you are going to be like me, watching and waiting for when the oil pan crunches a speed bump.
I would call your local parts department and see if there is a different spring for the 4 cylinder truck VS. the 6 cylinder 4.3L. If there is a different spring, change over to them. You should be able to go to one of the S10 truck sites and find a pair for next to nothing in price. Did you do a spring change to lower the 3" up front? Was there a different spring set for a 4 cylinder vs. the 6 cylinder? If they sell the same kit for both trucks I would not worry about it one bit since they know there is no difference.
-
no i didn't have to change the springs to drop it 3" in the front and th 4cyl and v6 doesn't have the same set of springs....................and wut size rear end do you suggest?
-
It all depends on what you plan on doing with it. If you plan to get an STS Turbo kit later for the truck I would go with a complete built rear end from Moser or someone like that. If you never go beyond the stock LS1 a V6 S10 rear end should be fine. I run a GM 10 bolt 8.625 stock rear end with 4.10s and an Auburn limited slip and I dog the hell out of it daily.
