5.3 cam retainer
My brother and I are doing a 5.3 swap in his truck now after I did my ls6 swap and he saw how easy it was. We just got the short block back from the machine shop and started to reassemble it. I know on the couple of ls1s Ive built there is a rear cam plate and on the 5.3 we cant find one in parts box. I called the local dealer and they told me the 5.3s dont have one. Im just wondering if this is true because this is holding up progress.

the only cam plate the 5.3 has is in the front that you install before the timing gear. the "rear" plate is the rear cover that holds the rear seal and butts up to the oil pan, that keeps the cam from coming out
