Bought a 6.0 but..

No 7 piston is shot. There is damage to the head as well. I believe that the spark plug broke and had been sitting in there and they just kept driving it. I want to use the 862 heads that I have on my 5.3, but need new pistons and it will get new main bearings and a new cam. What do you recomend on pistons, new ones, one or two from a junk yard????????? Btw the motor came out of an 05 van. They told me it smoked, thats why they pulled it out. I will get some pics of the damaged piston and head and should have them up later. I do want to spray when at the track but will not be doing it all the time.

What did the cylinder wall look like on 7?

The walls arent that bad, but there are some nicks in them only towards the top of the wall near the head. I think they could be easly bored a little or just honed out. If you mean 370 as in stroking the motor, I dont know if that will be in a budget to get the motor in the truck in a reasonable amount of time. I have kids and a wife, that should tell you something!! Where would I start looking for the kits? Or just the pistons? I am not really wanting a stock motor, I just dont have funds available to make a 408.

Would there be a benifit to putting on the 6.0 intake with injectors right now, and are the coil packs the same as a 5.3?

370 is just a .030 overbore, coil packs are the same unless its an LQ9. Injectors are the same. If it cleans up with a hone, there is a bajillion piston choices for the 4.00 inch bore, and you will find exactly what you want.

If you want to go back stock I have a few LQ4 pistons. I can send you one for shipping. Your engine should be a LQ4 if it came from a van. I have a set of 317 heads I would sell for like $40 too. I would recommend new valve seals in them and clean them up before installing.

6.0 intake is the same. Coils may or may not be the same. Unless they are D585s I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for the info!! I think I will go with the 370 and use my 862 heads, I believe I will net more compression from what I remember reading? PitchBackC3, I may still get those from you anyway. That also gives me an option to go back to stock, but my plan is to race, just with a LOW budget for now. This is just a start for me and will go bigger when I can.
