Got a question. I got our 5.3 sitting in the 89 GMC. I got the motor mount adapter plate pic in the forum here. I had some plates sheared to the measurements. From what I see the drivers side will work just fine. The d-side however hits the a/c bracket and isn't even close to lineing up with the holes on the block. Just wondering if anyone has gotten these to work on a late model truck like the 89's??? It's no big deal I'm just gonna tig up some custom ones. Just wondering if I wasn't seeing something right??

I have a set longer than those in the drawing and they fit fine in my 92. Then again, I don't have the A/C unit since it conflicts with the frame.

Hey Red, yea we got to have the A/C here in FL. This is a daily driver. I'm going to fab up some with some plate I have using the original style mounts on the frame. Getting this thing centered is proving to be a pain though. Wish I had one of those plastic engine blocks... lol

You need to 86 the factory a/c location and mount a sanden 508 compressor up high on the passenger side. Street and Performance and March both make kits to use the 508 compressors. That way you don't have to chop up the frame to fit the stock compressor into the truck.

Or you could mount your stock AC compressor up high on the passenger side:

That's not a bad idea. Can you post drawings of the brackets you madet to mount it up there? I am sure someone will have a need for the data.

PSWired... that's a nice setup. That's a good idea and if the compressor on the original motor wasn't screwed I'd definately explore that idea. By the way what motor mount solution did you use. If you have any pics that would be nice. :pics:

That's not my setup but it's what I'm planning to do. THat one belongs to another forum member here, I forget his handle at the moment. I'm planning on doing the same thing with my A/C- that there is a TPI camaro AC compressor bracket with some chopping and reinforcing done to it.

PSWired, yea I got ours in this weekend. I'm going the frame notching route. My old compressor is no good and I've got this new one. It fit really well just got to finish up boxing in the frame hole. Here is a pic, there is more on my site. Later
