I was thinking about running a true dual exhaust set up on my truck and was looking for some ideas on what style muffler to use. I know that magnaflow has a muffler that is a dual in and dual out but I was wondering if this would be as good as two sepparate mufflers. Also I was wondering what some peolpe are paying for this kind of setup. :burnout:

Well first, make sure use an x-pipe instead of a y or H. It will flow better for ya. As far as muffler, people generally use two on a true dual setup but I wouldn't know why you couldn't use just one. Maybe it would be more restrictive. Last time I priced that kind of setup, it was running upward of $350. If you just did a standard dual exhaust instead of true, you could probably get away with only about $250 invested.
I know you have probably already picked your muffler, but here are a few options.
You want classic sound? Flowmaster 40 series
You want good sound that's not like everyone elses? Magnaflow
You want the best flowing muffler? Hooker MaxFlow 521cfm!!
You want better than average flow and decently loud sound? Hooker AeroChamber
You want to spend an arm and leg for a good exhaust? Corsa

I would say the 2 into 1 muffler is pretty restrictive unless it is seperate inside.
I personal like mac products. the idle is softer than a flowmaster, but when your in it, it sounds like no other. I get tired of the flowmaster sound. just to many people running, and I like to be diffrent. Get ready to convert project escalade over to true duals, so the price to do that set up is 375. he said it was because the truck was lowered. I know the cat back that is on it now had to be rasied where it goes over the axle because it was hitting.

I have a flowmaster dual 2.25 in/out muffler and it sounds great. I did not run an x-pipe since the muffler is an open chamber and the gases mix in the muffler and then split on the way out the exhuast. They make one larger for big blocks. I don't know performance-wise if it made a difference but I am running 2.25" pipes from the cats thru the muffler and standard duals out the rear of the truck. I think I spent $180 buying the muffler, tail pipes and two 5 foot sticks of 2.25" exhuast pipe to run to the muffler. I don't know if I would do it this way again but I am happy with the results.
