I am in the process of swapping a 2000 5.3 into my 1998 Tahoe with the Vortec 5.7. I am trying to figure out how to adapt the coolant temp sender and oil pressure sender from my original engine to the 5.3. I know S&P makes some adapters, but I was hoping there was a better/cheaper way to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Street & Performance has them. But their proud of them.
Are there any other options?
What are the thread sizes on the 98's coolant temp sender and oil pressure sender?
I am currently doing a 6.0 swap into my 99 tahoe with the 5.7 and I just got all my parts from S&P yesterday. If you call them up and spec to someone in tech, he knows exactly what you need.
But the adapter sizes are:
16mm x 1/8"
12mm x 3/8"
I don't know if this will help but A sender came with my autometer gauges so I am sure you can buy the sender separately from autometer.
Autometer and casper eletronics sell them. Jeeze, this is the probably the cheapest part of the conversion, hopefully $40 isn't going to break the bank. :nutz:
Break the bank?? :LOL: I just think $40 for two little fittings is a little overboard and figured someone had found some more reasonable options.
You can also drill and tap the passenger side head so you dont need a adapter. And you can drill and tap the oil cooler block off plate...
+1 Just be careful on those aluminum heads. I got my coolant temp unit adapter from S&P for $18.Quote:
