Through some swapping I have ended up with an LS1 shortblock and tranny. I also have a set 5.3 heads, intake, injectors, etc. How much trouble would this be to put in my 5.3 powered '99 ECSB (or SBEC, sorry new to the list)? I'm willing to port the heads (I heard they will fit) and buy a new intake.
I don't want to spend a lot of money and don't have to do it, just thought it'd be cool. The truck has to tow a race car, but will be mostly a daily driver, needing to get decent gas mileage. In other words, it does not need to be a street terror and needs to retain the torque.
Any advantage to the F-Body trans?
I also have the front subframe, will the calipers bolt up to the truck front spindles?
Thanks guys.

The motor/block is exactly the same as the 5.3 dimensionally. You can swap whatever is not on your 5.7 from your 5.3. It all interchanges. Many on here have put the LS1 block in their trucks for more power and less weight. THe transmission is the same except the tailshaft housing has the torque arm bolt pattern for the camaro/firebird, no gain over the truck transmission.

I thought if you use 5.3 heads on a LS1 block that will raise the compression to around 11:1? Also isn't the exhaust smaller on the 5.3 heads?
