Cam degreeing question?
Guys I'm about to put a new comp cam in my 5.3 and I'm not sure if it will need to be degreed or not, now I'm only asking because I've never installed a cam in an LS motor, so please don't rag me too bad, just a lack of experience and I want it 2 be right when I'm done, thanks in advance!

what size cam. most people just line them up to the crank dot to dot and call it a day.

I'll probably regret this , But its not necessary and most cams are ground so when the dots are lined up they are set at the correct intake centerline. Out of the hundreds of cams I have degreed working at West tech I have never had one be more than a degree off. Degreeing is basically just checking the cam phasing against the cam card, unless you are trying to advance or retard it for a certain power range. Then you would be setting your intake centerline to a desired crank degree.
