4l60e 4x4...?
how hard is it to change a 4x2 4l60e to a 4x4? the donor looks like its out of a 98 trans am. i have a manual transfer case. all the electrical and stuff should be the same as a 04 silverado correct? im gonna tear it all the way down and hopefully learn how to rebuild it. gonna try and have some fun with it. is it possible to change it? obvioisly pull off the tail shaft? hopefully as simple as changing the output shaft to a larger one....? any input is helpful. except you pl4yboy. stay out of my thread :nutz::thumb:

you can swap the output shafts out. It takes considerable work and a few special tools to get it all the way apart. Patience is your friend when getting the snap rings off the shafts deep in the transmission case. A pump puller is advised though I've been witness to people removing the pump without one, remove the filter and TCC noid, stand case on bellhousing end, lift it up and drop it a few times. Barbaric, I know, but the pump came out.

The granny from a 97 should be the same though right

Granny?
Are you working with one from a 97 or 98?

i have a 04 truck, trying to put in a 97 tranny if they are the same

In the first post you said 98 TA, which would have been a LS1, but a 97 would have been a LT1.

97 is not the same type mounting, convertor or input setup on the trans. The flexplate would be wrong too.
