I just got my 2002 chevy ext cab 4x4 5.3 liter with 60,000 miles what are some good things to go over. I'm going to check transfer case oil rearend and frontend oil, trannyoil, Just wondering if there's any damage prone things i should check. The WOT shift from first to second seemed like it almost made a grinding noise, and possibly was slipping a little too much. I might take it in and have it flushed any ideas.
CHANGE the T-case fluid, front as well as rear diffs. I wouldn't flush the trans, just change the fluid in the pan and change the filter.
Grease up the suspension (zerk fittings), check the u-joints while there and the Constant Velocity axles (CV) too
PCV,
Air filter,
Fuel filter,
Spark plugs,
Plug wires,
Fresh oil w/ quality filter
Run a can of SeaFoam in the fuel tank an then one as a Top End Cleaner too.
Inspect the brake pads and lines, flush the system.

I agree, don't flush the tranny. It has not been proven to do anything for the transmission, actually you could hurt it by flushing it.Quote:

I would add the changing of those infamous cabin filters as well. They are underneath the dash in that black plastic thing on the passenger side.
