Ok, so I'm taking the g/f home, and when I go to take off it feels like the truck is towing something. I look around, tow/haul isn't on and my emergency brake isn't engaged either so I decide to continue on to her house. I get there and walk inside for about 5 min and leave the truck running. Come back out, and my truck is making this terribly loud high-pitched whining noise. My first thoughts are that it is just the fuel pump about to make its last stand. Any input on to what else it could be would be appreciated.

Not sure what it could be, but whenever my fuelpump went out I was getting on a freeway ramp and the truck felt weighted down, I had the pedal to the floor and it was just spitting and sputtering, I finally made it home and noticed how loud the fuel pump had gotten. I think at the time it was like $475 for a new fuel pump assembly. But thats the simptoms I had, good luck on getting your truck back in order.

Walbro 255lph for a replacement. Check you transmission fluid before you get too far into it, that makes a loud whine when it's low too.
Are you sure the G/F got out of the truck? Mine whines alot at times too!

Sound like it to me I just replaced mine a few months ago. I was on my way to work when it happened and it was raining pretty bad so I just thought that I was hitting puddles of water in the road as I came up to the stop sign but when I turned and tried to accelerate it was just sputtering and when I looked down at the tach it was going from 1500 to 500 then 1800 and then she quit on me so I coasted into a parking lot. When I got out to check it I noticed that I couldn't hear the usual whine from the pump when I turned the key. I just tried to start it a few more times and lucky for me she started and I made it the rest of the way (30 some odd miles) to work. Changed it out that day before treking back home through the boonies. Ya don't want to get caught stranded in the middle of BFE w/ hardly a cell phone signal in most places I drive back and forth to work. I took it as a warning and changed it out but if you want to wait I have the sending unit and module that I was going to put on Ebay that I'll let go cheap. All you need is the Walbro 255 to put in it and you could save 300 bucks. PM me if interested...Zed
