I know there are alot of threads on 4.3l to 6.0l swaps but I am confused on one thing. The 5.3l I have to go in is an 03 DBW. I personally prefer DBC. I have the complete wiring harness for 5.3l and everything to make it work, but I want DBC. So can I just get a DBC throttle body and older harness to make it work, or will the older harness not go into my 04 truck? Thanks
i was going through that to its not worth it. just stick with dbw
get a 2002 or earlier DBC harness and PCM. You'll need a throttle cable and bracket, too.
I didn't think it was that simple, I thought that the earlier harnesses wouldn't work with my year of vehicle? I guess I will just go DBW. I kind of like being able to open the hood and rev the truck up though.
I've got a 2006 engine running on a 2002 Fbody harness/PCM, DBC.

anything can be made to work. it all depends on how much work you want into it.
02 harness and pcm is what you need along with the cable, brackets and etc.

The BCM doesn't play well with the older harness and PCM.
Same question Ive had for a little while now. I have a 05 with the 4.3, going to 5.3 from a 01-02, i guess I will buy the harness and pcm.
why dosent the pcm not play well? thats all you keep saying sleeper. what does it do and why wont the 02 engine, harness, and computer work in a 05?
