i am having a problem with fuel pressure on a 6.0 in an obs suburban (98).
after i did the swap i checked fuel pressure and was only getting 38 psi at the rails. i tried adjusting the regulator ar the rails (return type rails) and was able to bring it to 50 but the regulator was leaking so i had to replace the regulator. then the fuel pump went out and i replaced the whole unit with a GM delphi unit. this has raised the pressure to 42. i am at a loss of what to do next.
please help
did you replace the fuel filter?
Are you using the original fuel pump for the truck? I didnt think obs pumps put out enough pressure.
yes it has a new filter and yes i am using the stock obs pump. i searched and asked questions before the swap and was told the 98 pump would support the pressure needed for the ls motor.
The 98 spec is 54-63. Should be a non-issue IF the 98 pump is good.

That means squat on anything but a GM pump. Delphi parts counter pumps don't count. Sounds like you have another issue maybe. Some of those older ones had baffles that came loose in the tank.
when you say baffles in the tank do you mean the tank it self or the puel pump assy itself?
the tank it good nothing has been knocked loose.
i was thinking of swaping the return type for returnless rails and using the vette filter, but i wonder if an inline booster pump would work or if it would suck the stock pump dry?

Don't waste your time. The pump should be fine. Returnless rails will just end up with more problems, but no need to get into that.
A brand new pump means nothing if something was ignored along the way. Did you fiddle with the wiring? Is the pump loud? what gauge are you using? Does it run ok?
Have you checked the FP with the regulator vacuum disconnected?
I would check the wiring as well. I had low fuel pressure so I replaced the pump and still had low pressure. Turns out the original connector on the fuel pump was bad and not providing sufficient power to the pump. I was told this is a common problem on these trucks but typically they just won't pump instead of the low output issue I was having.Quote:
