l92 heads
ok ive been doing alot of research on the l92 head. there are alot of variations. they say you can only put them on 6.0 and larger engines. i found a set of l92 heads that have the smaller 2.00 intake valves and said the will fit the 5.7 bore. has anyone used these heads. are they better than ported 243 heads. there only $429 a peice ready to bolt on with .570 lift springs from jegs. the larger l92 heads say 70cc combustion chambers these dont say. this is my plan 5.3 bored to 5.7 and use these heads. does anyone know the max lift before piston to valve clearance with flat tops. here are the specs
These L76/L92 heads can be installed on any 1997-2005 LS Family ov V-8 engines (except 4.8L & 5.3L versions)
Fits any 1997-2007 LS Family engine
2.00" Solid stem intake
1.55" solid stem exhaust valves
.570 max valve lift
Sold individually

also when u bore to 5.7 specs is there any heating problems with the motor? this is going to be a na motor and going to use the newer l76 truck intake. small cam about a 270 to 280 duration with a 2000 stall and 4l80e.

3.905" bore is about the max before cooling problems. ive never heard of 2 versions of L92s. so i cant tell you. you can run 317s on a 5.7 why cant you run a L92 set up on a 5.7?

most l92 heads require a minimum of 4 inch bore but those heads have 2.160 intake valves and 1.59 exhaust valves. u can get them in cast or cnc versions and didnt know you could get them in the smaller valve size till i saw these.

ah..yeah they'll work on the 5.7 then..thats a shame..id love to have a set of L92s laying around
-
ya it sux well looks like back to trying to find a 6.0 anyways you can still get a set ready to go for $439 but they only have springs to .510 lift. or a bare for $220 a peice and they are the l92 heads just not the cnc version

yeah id prefer bare bc i like knowing ill be safe up to a .660 lift.
i guess ill have to look into after the LSx swap is done
