well im sure its somewhere on the site but i tried searching and couldnt find much at all. i have a 04 silverado 1500 with a 4.8. my question is how hard would it be to switch it to a 5.3. i did some reasearch and it should be the same block it looks like. so what all would be needed to swap it up
unplug and unbolt the 4.8, do all the same stuff again in reverse order
If you are going to go through the trouble, I would swap to a 6.0 instead. Not enough gain to be worth it just going to the 5.3.Quote:

so i dont have to change any thing at all to swap? and to go to a 6.0 id have to go to a 4l80e tranny is this correct? cause i would like to get my hands on a lq9 but im plannin or building a new engine on a stand and slowly putting her together and then doing a superchargerQuote:

one more q, what generation is the 4.8 in my 2004? the 5.3 i have is a gen 3 out of a 99, is it going to work as easily as everyone is saying?
