Hey guys well i have a 5.3 right now and im looking to do some crazy mods to it later on. A friend of mine has a Ls1 he wants to sell me for $600, has about everything included including a aftermarket cam and has about 35k miles on it. Im looking to either drop it into my current truck- a 00' extcab that runs 15.5s fairly stock. That or im thinking about buying a scsb from a dads friend that the motor blew up on, so this would work out fine. Now that im planning on getting the engine, all i need is the tranny and computer off the year the engine is right? Im thinking about just building it up till i get tired of my 5.3. How complicated is this, and what would a stock ls1 run in a extcab truck, and a single cab? thanx

The LS1 is a good engine for a truck. It saves you a ton of weight not to mention 400 hp is easily obtainable. PHR did a build up on one and 400 hp was the rating fresh out of the crate with minor bolt-ons and not driving any accessories.
