How hard is it to change out a yoke? I was driving down the road 40-45 mph and my truck starts shaking. i pull over and my yoke is leaking,bad. so i turn it around and head home. So im thinking/hopeing my gear and locker arent messed up. and hope its just the yoke. i think when i took a leafe spring out i messed up the pinion angle and then the yoke. and ideas suggestions? i have some pics,but thyre crappy.
wouldnt be the yoke leaking it would be pinion seal.
you could take a chance and just spin off the yoke and remove seal downfall with this when tighting it back up youre pinion depth might change which could result in issues later on. you might get lucky and set it right
or other way is remove carrier then reset the depth as orignally done

if you have to ask about the carrier and etc take it to someone.
tighting it some probably wont do anything for ya. if the nut did back off some then that means youre setup is probalby off now which now resulted into wear issues and etc
chances are the pinion seal is just leaking but you still have to tear into it. you could try and get away with the first thing stated but if you mess it up youre looking at good money into repairing your mess up

goto a junk yard and get me a 14 bolt
keep the 10 bolt its plenty strong enough with the right parts. the money you spend on 14 bolt then money you spend on upgraded parts would be more costly then if you jsut bought upgraded parts for 10 bolt
so it should just be the carrier?

my vote, take it to a shop. not an insult so please dont take it that way, but from your questioning this is not something you should tackle. it may cause you many more expensive issues. a good gm dealership can probably fix this and get you on the road for less than a hundred bucks. if you try and leave pinion to lose or to tight its going closer to a grand. i work at a dealership, probably 15 to 20% of our work is fixing other peoples mistakes.
