gas mileage...iats???
I remember reading a couple years back that lower iats will allow computer to change advance, and can help save gas mileage slightly. At the time, i used a chart for proper iat resistance values, and added enough to lower my iats by about 20*
in other words, if my intake is at 50*, my sensor is showing about 30*
now that i have software to log data, i'm wondering if i should put this back to stock or if it helps (if even a little). i get TERRIBLE gas mileage until my coolant temps hit 180ish (assuming that's about when I hit closed loop) but it seems I get better mileage on warm days, then i do on cold nights (even after truck is warmed up)
i'm more worried about gas mileage then i am about 'going fast'...been putting $80 a week in the tank, and i'm about to start driving about 6x as much every week for work.
any suggestions?

Put a wideband in there and monitor your AFR feedback for a while to see if your tune needs updated. Also, to get the best fuel mileage you should install a vacuum gage so you can monitor when you're driving habits are causing you fuel consumption issues. They say that if you push the accelerator pedal as if you have an egg between your foot and the pedal you will get tremendously better fuel mileage. I wouldn't know about the egg trick, I drive like I'm stomping cockroaches. :laugh:

my scan software has a fuel economy gauge built into the software...seems pretty accurate. If i floor it, i get 2mpg, if i slowly accelerate I get like 6mpg until i hit 45, then it jumps to 20ish.
Cruising i get 22 at 45....18 at 55.... 16 at 65 ...13 at 75
just trying to bump those numbers up a little. It seems I tend to run more on the rich side, was looking for an easy way to back that off a little without a custom tune (nothing against them, but it seems they tend to help trannies commit suicide...i have 155k hard miles on mine, would rather not go that route until i really have to)
I have a bully dog, which i know keeps it on conservative side, and lets me adjust for tire size, so I'm good right now.
