would you go with the P3SD212 or P3SD412?
what amp to push them?
I wouldnt go with RF subs at all.
Why not? I've heard them at Best Buy and was very impressed by the amount of boom those shallow subs make. It was the preloaded slim truck box.
Ive got RF's now and like them. my local audio shop loves them. what would you go for without cutting the cab?
I like Rockford subs, never had any problem with them and think they are a good sub for the price. I wasn't real impressed with the shallows though unless they are in a ported box. I did a 07 Tacoma with a punch 300.1 and a shallow 10 in a ported box and I was VERY impressed with how it sounded. there is a pic of it on chuckscarstereo.com page 10 of installs, I think, but that that doesn't do ya much good if you want to hear it. Moral of the story, if you are going to do the shallow p3, make sure there is adequate airspace to have them in a ported box.
Very true, for a shallow sub they need a heck of a lot of room. Could almost get a regular sub to fit when you're done building the box.
I think they may only need 1 cube for ported. I guess they need more than other shallows, but they don't need alot. I was able to build a ported box to fit inside the storage compartment behind the seat of a crewcab Tacoma.
*edit* just looked up that Taco I did, it was bigger than I thought. You know you have been doing this work too long when you forget custom installs.
so if i run them ported and put a, say, 500.1 on them they should do good?
500.1 on a pair, or single? Single would be good, just make sure you have your gain set right. For a pair I would get the 1000.1
