No power inside cab?
I went through and removed 90% of the engine wires preparing to put my 5.3/4L60E into my 94 GMC 1500, and this weekend I was wiring up the 5.3/4L60E harness and I have no power inside the cab?
Im guessing I deleted the main feed wire for the cab when I was deleting the un-needed OBS wires. I ran a temporary wire from the battery to the distribution panel on the firewall, and that gave me power inside the cab, but no power to the blower motor.
I ran a keyed wire to the 5.3 harness for key on power, and when that wire has power, I can remove the wire i ran to the firewall and I will still have power inside the truck, but then I cannot spin the starter.
Also, sometimes I can key off and take the key out and there will be no power inside the cab, but other times I can key off and remove the key and there is still power inside the cab, I have to remove the wire I ran to the firewall to get the power in the cab to turn off.
I cannot remember, was there a wire that ran to the alternator to inside the cab on the OBS engine? It was originally a 5.0L/4L60E. If it cant be figured out, can I run a wire to the in cab fuse box to remedy the problem?

originally there was a wire from the starter main cable, lug bolted onto the starter, going up the backside of the engine through a metal tube and then up to the fuse block on the firewall.
-
i think i found it last night. I was looking through my leftover parts and came across the original battery cable, which had the starter main feed, the alternator wire and 1 other that I believe went to the firewall. I hooked it all up and still nothing changed.
Im gonna check it out again tonight and see if I can figure anything out.
Any idea on the blower motor?

blower motor pulls power from the bus bar. Make sure you don't have it disconnected behind the glove box.
-
bus bar? I will double check that it isnt disconnected behind the glovebox.
-
It will be a connector with one large red wire and two smaller wires. Sometimes the connectors fry on the red wire and you have to replace with new connectors or just put a butt connector on the two ends.
-
I will check it out. Its just wierd, it worked before I started removing wires and now it doesnt. I can hear it click if I go through the fan speeds, but nothin happens.

Figured out the blower motor problem, you were right, there was 1 wire that came unhooked, hooked it back up and now the blower works.
Still fighting a backfeeding/key off issue though. Somewhere, somehow I am backfeeding power. I turn the starter over with the key, but if I key off, it doesnt kill power to the fusebox, and I still have power inside the cab. When I remove the battery cable, then put it back on, power is off in the cab until I key on again. Any ideas?

In the NBS trucks, the power was fed to the radio, interior lights, etc until a door was opened or a set time was met. There apparently is a trigger wire on the door that lets the light come one when the door opens. This wire might have something to do with it, but not sure. :-/
