Are these headers mid length or shorties? Is anybody here using them and if so did you notice a performance gain. Sorry if this has been covered before I tried the search. Thanks for any replies though.

Good subject. I want to know if anyone has put long tube headers on a 88-98 LS1 conversion. I want headers but it doesn't look like there is room for long tubes. Maybe I am stuck with mid-lengths like Thorleys and Street & Performance. I don't want shorties since they really aren't any better than the factory cast iron manifolds.
goldenz01.... Those Thorley's are full length from the pics I've seen. They have 2.5" collectors tho'. Um, 1.625" primary tubes also. They look nice and can be scored for a good price. I think I saw them around $375 uncoated from truckperformance.com which is fine as I'd farm them out to be coated anyway...
Greg... you read CarCraft much? They tested a few full length headers against some stock bricks... the OE C5 manifolds made nearly as much power. I bet with minor port work you'd be suprised if you run the F-bod style manifolds currently.
I am running the truck cast iron manifolds. They don't look too bad for air flow since the flow never reverses.
Yeah truck ones are better than the f-body ones but check out a pair of the C5 ones... they are sorta like a midlength header for CHEAP.Quote:

I just ordered the headers yesterday I'll let ya'll know the results when I get them on.
I thought about the vette manifolds but they won't clear the front cross member. I think I may be going the route of the Street and Performance mid length headers. $505 and they are coated. You can buy them raw for a lot less.
How much less? I've seen LTs been coated for ~$100.Quote:

$409 for plain uncoated. $520.95 for Chromex coated show quality finish with a 3 year limited warranty. They manufacture and do their own plating so all their quality is top notch. S&P builds parts for the like of Boyd Coddington and Troy Trepanier so you know their quality is good. S&P headers are mid length and the collector flange bolts on about the same location as the transmission bolts to the engine.
