ARP is needed if you plan on swapping the balancer a bunch. Otherwise the stock bolt that needs replaced every time it's removed is less than $4 new.
cool, thats good news
i can just get that at the dealership?
what about the belt
just get a stock bolt from GM> make sure you change it tho.
also as far as the belt whoever sales it to you should be able to tell you what size belt.
The instructions in the kit have the belt numbers. You can view them on summits website.
1.) Use the old bolt to draw the pulley on. Then back it off and install the new bolt.
2.) If it were me, I would get the ARP bolt. It doesn't cost that much more and if you ever do a cam swap or anything, it's one less thing to worry about.
3.) Torque the bolt to specs!! Maybe some bearded monkey can post those up.
•Install the used crankshaft balancer bolt.
Tighten the USED crankshaft balancer bolt to 330 N·m (240 lb ft).
•Remove the used crankshaft balancer bolt.
Important: The nose of the crankshaft should be recessed 2.4-4.48 mm (0.094-0.176 in) into the balancer bore.
•Measure for a correctly installed balancer.
If the balancer is not installed to the proper dimensions, install the J 41665 and repeat the installation procedure.
•Install a NEW crankshaft balancer bolt.
Tighten
•Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt a first pass to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
•Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt a second pass to 140 degrees using torque angle meter.
Remember, this is only the procedure AFTER the installer has been used to push the balancer on all the way.
gettin kinda complicated,hhaa
