Another "What cam thread"

Sorry for another cam thread guys!! I just read the one above and got a lot of info. I have a similiar vehicle. 2000 GMS Sierra 4X4 ext cab, 6" lift, 35" tires, Dyna tech SuperMAXX exhaust that has long tubes, hi flow "Y" and cats, and Gibson cat back. Also K&N cold air intake and an AirRaid T/B spacer. I am going to install 4:88 gears this winter and also want to possibly shave the heads to increase compression and install a bigger cam. I drive it 2 miles to work and back each day, but also tow a boat. Boat is approx. 4500 lbs. Currently the truck does not shift into OD when towing or if there is a strong wind. I want a little lope with a nice sound. My '98 TA has a TSP 224 cam and I really love it. I want more power to pull and the great cam sound. The gears will help, but do I need a stall also? Any other recommendations on a cam? Thanks for the info!!!

IMO get a 2600-2800 stall with a cam like 215/230 600/575 with a 115ish LSA. I bet that would work well. If you wanted more lope, get a lower LSA.

Thanks for the info. I could pick a cam for my TA in my sleep, but when it comes to a truck, I have no idea!!! I was also toying with the idea of putting the TSP 224 cam from my TA in the truck and getting a new cam for the TA. Would that be worth it or should I get a custom cam for the truck and try to sell the TA cam to buy a new one?

5.3 right? That cam would be a bit much, considering your truck is lifted/heavy. Maybe try this one : HT1, LS1, LS2, LS3, Camshaft, LSX, 214/218

The 224 would work well too. But a cam with similar specs that I showed above should net power and torque all over the power band. And you could retain a stock like idle if you wanted as well.

What do u know Jeffy..... You need lots of low RPM torque to move those big azz wheels. try the 214/218 cam on a 114 lsa...

After looking at the 2 mentioned and talking to a couple of cam manufactures, I am leaning towards the 214/218 cam on a 114 lsa. Would I need new springs with this? For piece of mind I would probably do it anyway. Also, would I have any interference issues? Thanks for all of the info guys.
