Nelson Tune? Cam?
Need a little advice. The ole 4.8 needs a little more pep in her step, ive already got plugs, wires, exhaust, tb spacer and cai, gonna get headers soon, what would be a good cam for it? im running a stock tc and rearend. And should i get a tune before or after i do that? thanks.

first off you should get rid of the TBS. and depending on what plugs you have, 99% if the people here just have stock plugs, they are better for a lightly modded motor than most aftermarket plugs. get the headers before you do the cam, you wont really see the gains youre looking for from a cam if the exhaust is still a restriction. and depending on how long it will be before you do the cam and headers, id go ahead and get a mail order tune from Nelson, they do free re-tunes, so it won really hurt anything at all to get that ball rolling. and id say just a 220/220 cam or something similar would be a good start, maybe a little bit smaller with the stock stall and since it looks like you have some bigger tires than stock... :twocents:

Thanks, yeah the headers will come before the cam, ill def get the tune then. im running 33 inch tires so the engine needs a little help. I just dont wanna go overboard cause the truck has 163,000 on it and the tranny is gettin soft.
