The '02 Tahoe is acting up.
Today, I got in, started it, put it in reverse to back out, no movement...
Put it in Drive, moved a tad forward, put it in reverse, backed up fine.
Turned it off, started it, put in reverse, worked fine.
any ideas of what I should be checking? the fluid looks fine.
it has 44k miles on it, and I am planning on a transmission service (fluid/filter).
anything else?
TIA.
Jim (transmission clueless...)

If its only just happened this once then I would assume you just didn't have it all the way in gear. Even if you see the little square around the R, it doesn't always mean it is fully engaged. I wouldn't get to worried about it right now. If it happens all the time then I would think something was wrong.
If there really is a problem though, I'm sure one of these tranny gurus will chime in and make me look the fool.
Take it easy,
Ron

Update:
Well it happened again, and I paid more attention this time!
I shifted into Drive, and the indicator showed the 'D' was highlighted. It would not move.
I barely touched the shifter, and it engaged the tranny and started moving.
I barely touched the shifter again, and it went into neutral. the shift indicator still showed 'D'
highlighted.
Could this just be a linkage issue?
Any help is appreciated. My wife drives this, and I don't want her worrying about it.
Thanks!
Jim
