Probably a real dumb gauge question...

I came across a great deal on an autometer pod for the overhead council.


Although I really have NO USE for them, I'm tossing around idea of a vacuum/air-fuel gauge mainly cuz they move around a lot and would give passengers something to look at.


a) is there anywhere to tap off of for vacuum? Only line I see is the brake booster, and I'd rather not Jerry-rig a T in that.

b) is there an easy way to tap into the oxygen sensor? Back when I was all into GM fwd v6's, they made a pigtail that could plug between the sensor and harness to avoid having to cut/solder wires...might go that route if none other.

c) does anyone else want the pod to save me the time/money of installing gauges lol (really need to order my bigger tires)

,ight as well get some useful gauges if your going to do that, even thought it would cost more... so maybe thats not an option. id go for an interceptor and wideband if i were you, eventhough you dont necessarily need them...

There should be a couple of lines off the intake you can tap into. ive tapped into like 50 lines haha

I'll have to double check..last time I looked (when I had seafoam) I could only find that main brake line...but that was when I first got truck.


I have a relatively stock motor, and just a bully dog power pup tuner...no need for widebands lol. I was actually just going to hook the a/f gauge up AFTER the cats, so i know the signal going to computer for actual a/f is accurate.

You should check into a nelson mail order tune instead of your puppy tune :)

It's on the list. Bigger tires are #1 priority, and that will affect the tune. I change tires/rear ends too often to NOT have a hand held for now.

The power pup is hands down better then the hypertech/superchip/stock predator settings. (altho I know atleast the predator allows for more custom settings which I'm sure would overtake the power pup)

The a/f reading you would get with the gauge hooked up after the cats would be of no use whatsoever to you or anyone else

You said you need money to buy bigger tires, why not just shelf the thing, rather than spend a bunch of money on gauges to keep your passengers amused

Well i dont NEED bigger tires either...and bigger tires lead to BIGGER lift...it's a vicious cycle. Cheap gauges don't go very far down the "in debt" road.

I might even have the gauges laying around in garage somewhere. just curious easiest way to hook them up.

There are some plastic tabs on your intake that you can break off and tap into for the vac. gauge. I would go for an Interceptor for the other since you can always use it in the future as well. Plus, it gives a way to monitor trans temps, IAT's and a BUNCH of other stuff.
