Well my 2000 has the famous fuel gauge problem, If Im going to replace it id just as soon replace/upgrade the fuel pump at the same time. I have heard mixed reviews about the walbro, I want to stick with an in tank with little to no modifying if possible. What are my other options in a quality pump? Links are appreciated

Get a walbro from Nelson Performance.

Yeah, there are some fakes out there. That's why Nelson is a recommended source.
is your concern with eliminating jet pump and cutting the basket or w/ the walboro itself?

take the bed off the truck just a few bolts. Its much easier.
disconnect the neg on the battery BEFORE you start messing with the wires 8mm.
Step 1
Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Relieve the fuel system pressure, Remove the retaining ring for the fuel sender assembly with a fuel tank sending unit wrench.
Step 2
Note the position of the fuel strainer before pulling it off and discarding it. Unplug the electrical connection for the fuel pump and the fuel level sensor under the cover of the fuel sender.
Step 3
Remove the retaining clip for the fuel level sensor and remove the fuel level sensor by squeezing the locking tangs. You may now remove the fuel pressure sensor.
Step 4
Install the new fuel pump using the items included in the kit, especially the fuel strainer AKA ''the sock'' .
Step 5
Complete the installation by going backwards.

the fuel line tool is a must. Dont break the plastic piece. there is no paddle up that creek.
I've never done it on one of our trucks, just f bodys, but it should be pretty close to the same thing. Besides whats listed in the above post you need to cut up the basket that the pump sits in so that fuel will be able to pour into the basket around the pump, because with a walboro there is no provision to keep the jet pump from the original setup that would have filled the basket for the pump to draw fuel from. Once you get it apart it will make more sense.
Opt 2: You could try contacting racetronix (er racetronics not sure on the spelling). They make a very nice kit for the f body cars that is a direct swap, w/ no mods to the basket required maybe they could come up w/ something for you.
opt 3: just get a stock replacement FPM. Unless you plan on a slew of upgrades in the future that will require the use of a walboro. because your stock one will work fine with the mods you have now.

Sorry,just re read your original post. didn;t realize you were talking about the v6 truck, still doesn't matter, the v6 pump and v8 pumps are the same.
if it was me I'd chose option 3
