4.8/5.3 flywheel
does anyone know of any lightweight flywheels that would fit the 5.3 (or 4.8 - from what i understand, they use the same one)?
and just to clarify: i mean flywheel, not flex plate - i have a manual transmission.
the basic story: i'm swapping from a 4.3 to 5.3 and keeping the manual trans. i figured since i'll most likely have to buy a flywheel somewhere anyway, i may as well find a lighter one.
any help is appreciated! thanks.

I would try to find out if an Fbody flywheel would work. Then search for a light weight fbody flywheel.

already did - they don't work.
just curious...
are lighter flywheels more prone to warp or break? also, with less rotating mass, i'd have to keep my foot in it more to hold speed on a hill or interstate right?

If there are lighter flywheels available, Jegs or Summit racing products certainly would have them. As far as going up hills, and in general, 1lb. removed from the drive train has the same effect as removing 10lbs. from the nondrivetrain part of the car. so You would be into the peddle a little less in all driving situations. Good luck.

Also, You might want to consider a smaller diameter flywheel.

thanks for the input, but i'm just using a stock flywheel. just put it on with the pilot bearing & clutch monday. besides, i doubt a smaller one would work without using a smaller clutch.
