6.0l flywheel fits 1994 torque converter?

Okay, the other day I pulled the torque conv off the stock 350 flywheel from my 1994 truck and found that the bolt pattern and offset of the tq conv fits just fine on the 2001 6.0l.
Does this make any sense? Does anyone think the donor truck would have had a 4l80e trans that my stock tq conv and 4l80e would bolt right up to without a new flywheel from advance adapters? Do I have to swap the flywheel if this tq conv fits?

if you have a 2001 and earlier 6L with the flat flexplate then it should be fine if the pilot on the converter fits inside the crankshaft, its not just the bolt pattern that matters.

Okay, thanks for the response (as always... a wealth of information!).

Do these pics clarify it at all? This is the stock 1994 TQ conv mounted on the stock '01 1500 HD flywheel/flxplate. The torque converter part I will call the "input" does fit INTO the middle of the stock 2001 HD flywheel center hub if that makes sense.
