if its your first time it's gonna take about 8-10 hrs. I would look for some thing that will be a good for low end torque with those tires.
about 8 hours and you cna do it with most hand tools. some people have a hard time gettign the pulley off.
there used to be a great write up on ls1howto.com it was for a Fbody. but its all the same lsx motor.
Depends on if you're swapping springs. If you're mechanically inclined and have good tools it should take more than 4-6 hours the first time without springs. With springs you can almost double that for the 1st time.
5.3, right? What gears do you have in your truck? And do you plan on puttin in a new torque converter with a higher stall speed?
I would suggest you read many how to guides..
also the part which will take the longest is the crank pulley especially if you get a crappy puller...make sure you have the right tools and you should breeze through it.
i will have 4.56's i am running 3.73's yeah its the 5.3. i wasnt thinking of doing the torgue converter yet
This puller works great : OTC Tools 6667 - OTC Harmonic Balancer Pullers , i've used mine 3 times already with no issues at all
As for a cam for your truck, it seems like everyone is going a little bigger these days, so you might want to consider a TR220. your bottom end will suffer till you get your gears and stall though.
