I got to thinking, I know that the 4L60E converters have different STRs.
The 5.3s are only a 1.9 (I think so are the 6.0) and the 4.2 and 4.8 are a 2.1 but are the 4L80E converters a 2.3+ STR?
The trucks with the 4L80E seem to flash stall higher and seem able to burn the tires easier too N/A (the 6.0 doesn't make a whole lot more power stock). Reason that makes me wonder is that the HD Ford unit (E4OD/4R100) has a 2.5 STR...

I'd like to know what the '01+ 6.0s lay out stock as they have a larger cam also. The differences between the motors don't account enough IMO for the drastic power differences. I remember that people told me they could burn the tires off their truck with a good tune in an HD truck.
40 cubic inches is a good deal of difference, but that 4L80E would absorb any extra HP I'd think.
So that being said, any ideas what a tuned 5.3 makes vs a tune 6.0?
EDIT... STR is stator torque ratio, it multiplies input torque for more power to the wheels.

It's around that the 5.3 and 6.0 with a 4L60E have 1.9 STR. The 4.2 and 4.8 have the 2.1 as they have less torque to begin with.
If you check the Yank TT2600, I'm about 98% certain it's that Trailblazer converter. Same STR... 2.1, same diameter...11", and stalls the same...2600rpm, and costs about 1/2 the price.

I can tell you first hand that my 01 6.0 HD 4l80e would not burn the tires new and wont burn them now with a few mods including nelson hot tune.
3.73 gears, runs good but seems like low end torqe is not good. I am not sure about the tq converter but it really comes alive at around 35 mph and up though 100 still pulling strong.
