I didn't replace my R&P but I payed about $500 to have the locker put in with bearings. I can't imagine that gears would cost $475 more. I would check around.
The worst part about doing a rear end is setting up the pinion. Good gears are about $200 a set and then you have to do new bearings, no options. There is a lot to setting up a set properly the first time plus the liability for the install. For carrier and gears I think thats a very good price. :twocents:
If Red says it is ok then get it done!
That's a $1500 job at a dealer with stock parts.
Never heard of them but if that's where you are looking, I would go with these guys:

They put my Eaton in and I haven't had one issue with it. They do really good work. Give him a call and tell him Jay sent you.
They're not in Tomball! you can try them out anyways. do they offer any kind of waranty? sounds like a really fair price. have you contacted Pyle Bros in Baytown. i know a lot of folks have used them.
I have heard that Pyle does great work. I was looking for something a little closer to my 20. Thanks for the heads up on American Jay I will give them a shout. By the way nice looking cc. I bet you surprise a few people with that setup. I have the same truck but might be a little slower. Red and Gas thanks for the advice your input carries a lot of weight in here.:hail:
