got 06 chevy sbrc 1500, 5.3L, wanna put a 08 6.0 and 6speed trans in it. I have all stock parts with both motors. im told i can do this and it wud start but not move. im also told it wud cost like 6000$ to do it rite. has any 1 done this, need some guidence.
u can do it, u will need a tune tho before it will start to remove the "vats"
sorry not mechanically incline, vats are? will i be able to use what have, like computer and wires?
motor guy sed everythng wrks off vin numbers and there would be issues, but it would start but the trans woudnt respond cuz the vin number. . . . some technical bs.
motor wont start unless vats is disabled...vats checks to see if the vin matches between the bcm and pcm..i believe
VATS = Vehicle Anti Theft System, anyone with HPtuners can disable it, and I'm pretty sure change the VIN in the pcm so it's like your truck came with it. As far as making the 6 speed work I've not the slightest.
its not a bigdeal, just look around and wait for replies, if you have all the harness for it you should be fine.
what kind of 6.0 comes stock in a 08 2500, and does any 1 know what the numbers look like on these motors? just wanna see if the swaps worth it.
Also need to try to figure out how to wire in the TCM and all the extra wiring. The 06 has trans and engine in one computer. The 6L has the trans computer inside the trans and a totally different engine computer system.

why not use the 6.0 and sell the tranny it came with and get a 80e? easiest to swap in and less wiring/ computer headache
