Thoughts on Cam I'm Considering

Need some help from the cam gurus, considering upgrading to this:

227/235/.615/.621/111+4

Currently running a Trick Flow 220/224/.575/.575/112 with the following supporting mods:

Trick Flow 225s @11:1 cr, FAST 90/90, Stainless Works LTs, Yank 3600, 4.10 gears.

Looking to shave a few tenths off the ET while still being somewhat streetable. Not a daily driver, streetable to me means able to drive an hour or two to the track.

Lets hear it, too big, to small, what do you think? Anyone running anything similar?

You won't notice much difference with that cam. Maybe 1-2 tenths. You have the hardware to support more duration, so go bigger. Something in the mid 230's on the intake.

Well Im looking for more of a gain than that. I keep thinking about the weight of my truck though which leads me to cams with strong midrange to get me moving followed up with better top end relative to what I have now. To me, the cam I listed seems like a huge step up but I confess I'm a noob to cams in trucks much bigger than what I have now. Appreciate your input though, I'll give that some thought.

Once you get past 4000 RPM in 1st gear (and your TC will ensure you get there quickly), mid-range power becomes a minor player. With the cam you eventually install, you'll be shifting near 6500 RPM (or slightly higher), so RPMs after the shift will stay above 4000. That means you want a cam that has a power band between 4000-7000 RPM. That's why I suggested the 235-ish cam. That's the largest I would go in your truck with your current gears.

What would you estimate I could pick up with a 235ish cam as opposed to the one I listed? Just trying to get a ballpark feel. Thanks.

look into a 232/238 cam those trick flow heads flow really well, even go with a .600 + lift.. might wanna go on pt.net and pm patrick g on a cam spect

I would expect about 15 lb-ft more upper-RPM torque. Couple that with a 200 RPM higher shift point and you're looking at a 20-25 HP increase.
