caddillac esky issue
hey guys ,my wife let the battery in the esky die .ive had this issue b4 and it got alittle better and drivable till now.anyway it went dead lastnight and i jumped it this morning and it doesnt want to idle in gear now ,it sits at like 500 rpm were it should be closer to 700 and when i accelerate and let off for a light or to stop it goes down to like 300 rpm or less sometimes stalls.ive tried relearning it by turning all the draws on and putting in gear etc.I need some suggestions my wife has to leave tommorrow on a long trip and id like it to be ok.Ive had it happen b4 and it took a few days to straighten out .weve been driving it since last time but the idle hasnt went back to perfect, but never goes under 500rpm.that would be ok for now ,i think its some kinda relearn process i just dont know what to do .thanks as always .

Do you have a K&N or other brand oiled air filter? It sounds like your MAF needs to be cleaned.
-
no i dont have a k&n .its got to do with the battery dying this morning .it does it everytime the battery dies and i have to jump it .it seems to have to relearn, but the computer says theyre isnt a factory relearn for it.

Is this vehicle 100% stock? What year and how many miles? I understand about the problem starting after the battery went dead. What I was getting at, IF you had a dirty MAF, was that the computer is trying to relearn how to idle with skewed MAF readings. That will cause a problem like you described, in my experience. Another vehicle that didn't want to relearn idle had one of the front O2 sensors that was going out, but not enough to throw a code.

yes its 100 % stock .its an 03,100k or so on it .i plugged it in today and the only thing he could find wrong was an evap code ,but im sure that was irrelavant.i suppose i could clean it quickly.

If you haven't cleaned it for a long time, it's probably dirty anyway. If you have a scanner, get a look at your O2 sensor readings while you're driving. the numbers should be going back and forth rapidly, on both sides. If you have one lazy sensor, that will also be a problem.
