Well, took the truck out again to see what difference a set of gears could make. I switched from 3.08s to 4.11s and improved considerably. I ran 10.48s run after run last time, this time I had a best run of 10.048. Pretty good improvement for nothing but gears only.

Sweet! GMChasLS1 gained something absurd like 1 sec with a gear swap from a 2.73:1 to a 3.73:1 LOL
Kickass gains!

whats equate too 1/4 mile wise?

Mid to low 15's...Zed

i would like to find out 1/4 times one day but that will be after i take off the 32s, lower it back down on the ground and feel safer in it. 100 mph doesn't feel too cool in a lifted 2wd truck. Oh yeah, was 72.09 MPH at 1/8 mile. Surely it would be at least 90 mph by the 1/4 mile marker.

Went to the track last night with my new copy of LS1Edit and laptop and made a few runs. I bumped the timing up 3 degrees across the board and kept bumping the injector flow rate up .03 every 3 passes until my ETs started increasing. I ended up with a best ET of 9.7727. Guys in brand new Mustang GTs that I showed the tail lights to were asking me what power adders I had on it. They were a little slack jawed when I popped the hood and showed them the totally stock LS1. Now I need to get out of the hole better. 2.3285 60 ft times suck but I guess that is okay since I am running 32 inch tall all-terrain tires on a fat as a pig 92 Xcab truck.

Damg good times. I'm impressed with mph. :thumb:
How hard was the conversion? I have a 96 1-ton with a pos 6.5 turbo diesel(Already dead). And I have a 5.3 complete. It isn't a 5.7 ls1,but it's way better than the diesel.
-
The conversion was pretty easy but requires a degree of mechanical abilities to perform the transformation. I used a complete F-body engine assembly with all the stock accessories except the a/c. The power steering hoses bolted right up to the C1500 steering box. Motor mounts to adapt V8 truck engine mounts are a simple thing to make from 1/4" plate steel or you can order them from www.hotrodlane.cc. You can search past posts for a drawing of how to make them yourself. The wiring harness was the most aggrevating part since I contracted it out to a guy in California who took almost 6 months to get it back to me. Others on this site have positive experiences with harness builders but I don't know who the builders were.
BTW, I forgot to update the MPH....best last night was 73.53 mph.

Thanks. I hate to just scrap a truck, but that diesel has got to go.
