Steering brace

hey guys, the truck isn't lifted, but you guys would know about this.

i have big wheels on my truck and the stock steering just seems to be over powered by the big brakes and wheels.
I've seen some lifted truck have a dampner or shock on the steering tie rods.

Can someone point me in the right direction for this?

Does this make sense to install?

I think it does because the steering just seems to need some control sometimes, like the big wheels and brakes take over and need some control, something like that, lol.

I'm not really experiencing bump steer and i'm not talking about vibrations or warped rotors, i just need an assist on the steering.

What year? Solid axle?

Bump steer!!! Truck prob wanders with the ruts in the road too. Yes a damper will cure that. I only had that problem on my 87 F-150. (I know I know) Also for the older chevys, they have frame brackets available to strengthen the frame to take away frame twist and cracking.

If your not getting bad feed back or bump steer i really dont think you need a dampener, its just going to make it tuffer to steer if you install one.

I get a littel bump steer, i just went out to drive it to make sure, so i am experiencing a little bit, not much.

my truck is very easy to steer, you can perform a turn, lock to lock with one finger, i wouldn't mind a little more feedback/firmness from the steering system.

so, anyone got a link, it wonders the road a little bit, but every wide tire truck i've been in does that.

That's just what i wanted.

With these heavy 20's and big ass brakes, steering just went to s... afterwards.

Id get the steering stabilizer for sure Allen, thats one upgrade I didnt buy when I bought my lift and regret it. Steering seemed a bit rough and poppy a lot.

Cognito Steering upgrades are also good as well. Not sure what their site is but a friend has the idler and pitman upgrade and the steering is firm and smooth

Obviously there are two definitions of bump steer. I'm not familiar with the 4WD version that has been mentioned here. The other one is when you gain or lose total toe throughout the suspension travel due to the lower control arm angle not matching the steering linkage angle. Look at a stock front suspension Chevelle or Camaro that leaves the line really hard and you'll see the camber change wreak havoc on the toe.

Ive had the same issues allen with my big brakes and 20,s.Im glad you brought this up,maybe theyre is some hope.I thought i was stuck with shitty steering.

You can buy a dampener for 40 bucks. fits right were the stock one would go.
