I think I have decided to remove the rear block on my leaf springs. Will this be ok? No harm to the truck, right? I still tow a little. Nothing heavy (over 2000 lbs).

Won't be a problem at all, may want to look into getting some shorter u-bolts tho?
+1 on the shorter U-bolts, I don't know about the NNBS trucks but on the NBS you can use the 2wd bolts. It won't hurt anything by taking them out either.
No harm to your truck but your friends may want to harm you for some reason folks get really defensive when you make a 4x4 lower.
Its okay we support you though. I did it on my 02 Z71 and when I hooked up my friends boat it was awesome because everything from truck to trailer was perfectly level. I loved it
Plus if the nnbs 4x4's are anything like the 2wd they really need to lose some height on the back
i removed mine in my 99 z71 and it didnt do any harm and i even have 2 inch drop shackles as well...i jus need to cut the bumpstops smaller
Go for it no harm at all I took mine out and also put in a drop shackle. Your right when I start to tell people I dropped my 4x4 they get all worked up.
Also you should use new u bolts every time there only like $20.00 a set. beside its faster to just cut them out and use a new set. good luck!!!
I remember when I did this but probably did it a "dangerous" way without knowing... I put the block on top of the leafsprings and just re-used my u bolts. Had to ground something to get the block to sit flat on the springs.
I have a set of 2" drop shackles for sale in the sales section if anyone is interested.
I removed the rear block and it looks great. Has a good level look.
