You will have to, must should I say, get pulleys and brackets from an LS1 based engine. You can go to street and performance, www.hotrodlane.cc, for custom pulleys. They also have take-off assemblies. I am running the f-body pulleys on my 92 c1500. If you use the f-body pulleys you will need to buy S&Ps passenger high mount a/c bracket and idler pulleys. Also, motor mounts adapter plates can be purchased from S&P or someone on the site here has a drawing where you can make your own. As for wiring, I would get a 99-2002 harness. Don't use a 98 harness, you won't have all the tuning options. Many places make a good harness, S&P being one and Painless wiring is another.
thanks for the information. i live bout 15 miles from street and performance.
can i use my water pump, power steering? im 17 and i need all tha details on what has to be done.
Yes, use the factory LS1 water pump unless you have $400 for an electric water pump. If you use the F-body accessories you also need the crankshaft pulley from a f-body. All the f-body accessories except the factory a/c will bolt right into the 95 c1500 without any modification.
stay away from painless....use speartech if you can.
sorry to dig up posts, but what are the mounting issues for the motor and tranny in an ls1 swap into an obs chevy? i know a/c is an issue ofr f-body accesories but what about the motor mounts/ firewall and tranny xmember?
Motor mounts can be purchased from Street and Performance for about $80 and they look fabulous. You can make them but you'll spend about $10 in material if you make them out of 1/4" steel plate and a few dollars in tools to cut, drill and grind them to size. $80 is a bargain in my books. If you use the fbody accessories it is a straight drop-in. The transmission mount can be slid around to where ever you need it. You can drill new holes in the frame if needed. Mine bolted into existing holes. You'll need to have the driveshaft modified most likely. Street and Performance also makes an A/C kit for a Sanden compressor and it is mounted high on the passenger side. It does away with the tensioner pulley and uses one long belt around all accessories. I am holding off on the A/C myself. Their website is www.hotrodlane.cc There a no real problems fitting the engine in the engine compartment except the motor mounts. Go S&P and that issue is solved.
