No it is way simple. Just release the tension, remove the belt over the alternator or where ever you want. Unbolt the idler pulley and take the clip off the back of the pulley to get the bolt out of the pulley and reinstal in reverse order.
I ersonally cleaned my idler pulley in a solvent tank and repacked it with fresh greese and Wa La good as new. While you are at it check your tensioner pulley also.
When I did mine I also noticed the tensioner pulley was dry too. Now that the weather is getting better here I am going to do my tensioner pulley for my A/C belt too.
Good Luck!
...Ummm....OK
Also make sure the P/S pulley is flat to the P/S pump shaft...
"...Ummm....OK"
You do not sound to impressed? Did I make since in what I typed?
Excuse me but I thought the complaint was a squeak. Just because it sounds like it's from the idler or tensioner does mean it really is. I see belt squeaking noises all the time from misaligned P/S pulleys. I was not correcting the poster above and his instructions for what helped him, just offering advice on another possible cause.
Tyler is an asshat.
Thank you Tyler for the boost on the morale for my write up.
As far as the P/S thats another consideration. I am not complaining. I just thought you were unimpressed with my cure for my squeak that I found is all. It is all good.
No, sounds like you have a good sense about it...and real world experience with a cure is always welcome.
Its not my belt my belt is still good, i just ordered a pulley for 30 bucks so ill put it on in a couple days and let ya know
Never said it was the belt. Why is this so hard...belt noise caused by P/S pulley alignment, not by the belt itself. I'm sure you've found the problem.
