Big Problem HELP!
Ok so I decided to check out that coolant leak today. So I look around and see nothing so I decide to pull my intake off I spot an oil substence leaking out of my TB. So I pull the TB off and look into my Manifold and thats when I see a puddle of milky oil sitting at the back of it. So I wipe my tears away and call Nelson they say pull the heads and check out the gasket. I want to know if I have to can i replace the heads, manifold those things or do I have to get a new Engine.:cry:

might just be a head gasket.. have the heads decked and throw some new head gaskets and see how it works. check for cracks in the heads. if it ever got hot, you might have a crack in there somewhere and when it gets warm it opens
-
Ok ill check it out 2marrow when its warmer. I hate the COLD. It did get hot for some reason one day but I stopped and checked it and it was just low on coolant added coolant and about 5months later I have this!
-
yea 5 months ago it was warmer out. might have gotten hott and gotten a hairline fracture on one of the heads. Metal shrinks when its cold so when ur truck gets to normal temps and cools down so quickly because of the cold, might have created a larger crack. double check the gaskets tho. u might get lucky!

Well theres some 243 and some 241 heads over on pt.net I could get them next week. But this will put a dent in my other trucks plans FRICK
-
haha go to a junkyard.... find 07 + trucks with 5.3 in it and yank the heads. it should read 799 casting. same flow numbers as 243 and some vettes even have 799's on them! way cheaper... i picked up my whole 5.3 motor for $300 they have the same CC as well as the 243. theyre the same heads, just google it.
-
Well I dont have a awsome junk yard around me like you. And guy has 241's with some nice springs for 300.00
-
go 243. call around you would be suprised. junk yards dont kno jack about what they have sometimes. 241 are ok.... i mean they dont flow much better than stock truck heads. its up to you tho. if you are boosted the 241 will bring your compression down and ull be able to run more boost lol idk if you are or not....
-
Nah its a stock 4.8 with bolt ons like lt intake tune
-
you will benefit way more from a set of 243's
