I think there is a topic on just that same swap.
If I were you Id upgrade to the LS6 Cam if you wanted to stay that mild. You might be dissappointed with the very low gains with the LS1 Cam. The LS6 is also good if you add Forced induction to your vehicle later on.
I just put that cam in my 01 truck last month. Came out of a 2000 vett. 202/210 .500/.500 116. It made a great improvment and didn't have to change springs. Very good idle, better than stock. Pulls really good after 3k to 6k and will work with a stock setup as well. Got 2 more MPG on a 800 mile trip at Xmas.
I know a couple of guys who have done that swap. They got the cams for almost nothing, so they tried it. When I asked them about it, all I got was a big smile, and an anwer of "worth it."

I'm in the process of doing this swap but need to verify with you guys -
Engine: 2002 5.3L from Chevy Avalanche, all stock
Camshaft from a 2000 LS1
You guys mentioned that the stock springs can be used. Any difference in the pushrod length or will it be fine?
This is the type of install i did, And what i found out about LS1 cams is that the lift was 496 in & ex. for 98, 99, 2000 and then was changed to 465 in & 477 ex. in 2001...push rods are the same.
